Ahead of the kick off of the CAF inter-club competitions across Africa, one of Nigeria leading coach Gbenga Ogunbote has stated the reasons Nigeria clubs always struggle in the competitions, BSNSports.com.ng can reports .
Presently the head coach of Akure based side Sunshine Stars, Ogunbote led Enugu Rangers to the CAF COnfederation cup 2 seasons ago but failed to make it beyond the group stage of the tournament.
While speaking with BSNsports Ogunbote stated that apart from financial issues, poor preparations is another factor Nigeria clubs always faltered when it matter most.
" To be honest with ourselves, the major challenge we have from this part of the world is financial constraints, in other part of the continent they are well prepared.
Most of the teams you see in the continent, they traveled either a chartered flight or their private jet but here we find it difficult.
Secondly, our preparations is not good enough, if not for one thing or the other the continental games would have started by the end of this month and our league has not started.
We going into tournament, when we are not in competitive mood and enough fitness.
The major challenge we have here is finance," he said.
Enyimba international, Plateau United will represent Nigeria in the champions league while Rivers United and Kano Pillars will play in the confederation cup.
