NPFL: It's A Big Risk To Resume Sports Now - Henry Abiodun
By Sampson Adedeji
Former Sunshine Stars of Akure head coach Henry has said it's a big risk to resume in the country now amidst corona virus pandemic, BSNSports.com.ng reports.
Sports and football has been on halt in the country and beyond since mid March due to outbreak of Coronavirus.
While other countries in Africa and around world are working round the clock to resume sporting activities, Nigeria is yet to map out strategy to resturn.
Abiodun while speaking on platform of Oyo State Grassroot Football Coaching Education ( OSGFCE), emphasized on safety of the stakeholders (players) in his reactions.
"For me I want football to resume just like yesterday but again you can't compare life to anything, there must be safety like we always preach.
"So, if the NCDC and the government give clear road to go out there and do sports that will be great but if they have not giving the clearance, it will be risky for us to start any league at any level at all.
"Especially when you look at the situation in Nigeria, the testing, and the games we are going to play forget the fans not coming, how club we able to do the testing, before training and after each game, for players, referees and officials?
"So may be it's a big risk if the pandemic is still out there, if the curve is not level and we step out there to play football.
"But as a football coach, I wish we can start playing now because a lots of people are not doing anything for months, like I said safety first", he stated.
