NPFL MD 1 Round up: Plateau United Suffer Home Defeat As Adamawa United Force Pillars To Draw

The poor run of form of last season table topper Plateau United continued as they suffered a surprise 0-2 home defeat to last season struggler Kwara United. Home team dominated the opening half but the Afonja Warriors was able to their own and secure a goalless first stanza. Two quickfire goals from Jide Fatokun 62nd minute and Micheal Ohanu 69th minute secure maximum point for Kwara United. At the Agege Stadium in Lagos, MFM outsmart Warri Wolves 2-1 in a thrilling contest. MFM took the lead in the eight minute through Ebenezer Odeyemi, while Muyiwa Balogun got the second in the 23rd minute. The visitors pulled a goal back four minutes later with John Paul Chinedu directing Ihuarulam’s cross into the net. Nonso Nzediegwu scored the decisive goal as FC IfeanyiUbah beat Lobi Stars 1-0 in Nnewi. Jigawa Golden Stars also beat Sunshine Stars 1-0 at the Ahmadu Bello Stadium, Kaduna. Stone Onukwube got the winning goal 12 minutes from time after he was teed up Musa Lala. In Lafia, Promise Damala scored the opening goal in the 5th minute for the away side Wikki Tourist but host Nasarawa United responded two minute later with goal from Reuben Nicodemus before he completed his brace in the 52nd minute and secure maximum points for the host. In other centre, Kano Pillars held their hosts Adamawa United to a 1-1 draw in another matchday one contest Rabiu Ali put Kano Pillars ahead with a sublime finish In the 13th minute. Adamawa United fought back with Isa Garba getting the equaliser 15 minutes from time.
