NPFL: My Presence Spurs Abia Warriors To Victory - Imama By Niyi Busari Abia Warriors head coach, Imama Amapakabo has said that his presence during the match-day Two encounter against Sunshine Stars spurred them to victory, BSNSports.com.ng can report. The former Nigeria U-23 national team coach was involved in an auto accident two days to the match and made a surprise appearance on the match-day to boost the confidence of the players in their 1-0 home win against Sunshine Stars. "I think it's a psychological thing. When the incident happened on the 21st December, the players were down because when all of them came to see me in the hospital, they just couldn't train afterward. And when I heard that that was the situation and got back to consciousness, I knew that I had to be here one way or the other. I spoke to some of them on phone but I thought it was not enough. You know my presence at least motivate the team because they were held completely psychologically but my presence helped. They needed to see me alive. They never believed I am going to survive it but all glory be to God they have seen me physically and that's a plus for the team. We are going to work on our low scoring ability and I believe the players will get back their scoring boots and covert goals in the next games. He admitted that the slim win over Sunshine Stars was not easy task for his boys. "It's a very difficult game for us. We didn't play as how we expected but when things don't go right for you on a day like this, you just keep it simple which they failed to do and we lost virtually 55% of the second balls which almost ruined our plan. But most importantly, the result matter, a moment of brilliance from Paul Samson and that's all we needed in a game like for us to be able to get the result that we need. With three points from two matches, Abia Warriors sit on seventh position in the 2021/22 NPFL table.
