NPFL Players Good Enough To Play For Super Eagles - Ex-Eagles Goalkeeper
By Niyi Busari
Former Super Eagles goalkeeper, Dosu Joseph has said that Nigeria has good home based players that can fight for shirts with their European based counterparts in the Super Eagles, BSNSports.com.ng can report.
Dosu Joseph who led Nigeria as goalkeeper to her only Olympic Football gold medal in Atlanta, USA in 1996 admitted that home based players should not be forced on the Eagles coach, Gernot Rohr. The former Julius Berger keeper in an exclusive interview with BSN Sports said: "I don't think he should be forced to choose the home based players but then, I believe past coaches has chosen 6 to 7 home based players in the past to represent Nigeria in all competitions we've played.
"If in his time he couldn't choose one, I don't know what is happening but I believe we got players in the home front that can do it and wear that green white green and become professional in Europe.
So, coming back, I think the boys deserve a place in the National team. I don't see why they cannot be there but what I can fault the federation for, we want to watch our leagues at the comfort of our room, open our TV and see Nigeria league just the way the European showing their leagues on the television. We shouldn't concentrate much on the European league. I think the federation need to do better by getting sponsors so that Nigeria league can be shown on the tv too." He concluded.
