NPFL Playoff Championship: 'Dont Write FC Ifeanyi Ubah Off - FCIU Coach

FC Ifeanyiubah head coach, Uche Okagbue says the whole idea behind the Anambra Warriors change of transfer system is to ensure that the Nnewi side become a hug for talent discovery.

The Anambra Warriors at the beginning of the season adjusted their transfer policy of signing mostly experienced players for young but talented ones and Okagbue who has been given that task reckoned that the new order has been productive.

The Nnewi side allowed most of their established players to leave to other clubs at the end of last season in order to initiate a move that will make the club self-sufficient and less dependent on other top-flight clubs for talented players.

Reviewing the action of the management of the club after their 1-0 win over star-studded Plateau United, Okagbue noted that their current position in the league table has shown that the club took a good decision to sign young and talented players who are eager to make their mark.

“It was the determination that saw us through against Plateau United. The boys really want to make names for themselves and they fought very hard with the last drop of their blood to ensure we got the three points,” Okagbue told npfl.ng.RELATED POSTS

“The league is getting dicey and tougher now and any point missed will affect your chances in the league. We are really working hard to make it to the Super Six and I know that we are going to make it. Everything has its due time.

“It was the same benchmark I set while with Remo Stars when I was part of those that took them to the NPFL the first time two seasons ago. I also helped Gabros qualify from the Nationwide league to the National League and today I still have a bunch of players who are ready to learn.”

Okagbue recalled what he said at the beginning of the season to journalists who doubted the ambition of the Anambra Warriors to compete in the wake of the exodus to their top players.

“I told journalists at the beginning of the season that my team is work in progress. We are making use of talented but young players who are ready to ensure that FC Ifeanyiubah become a breeding ground for other clubs within and outside Nigeria to sign players,” he said.

The FC Ifeanyiubah coach reiterated the determination of the Nnewi club to make it to the playoff and that they will continue to work their socks off to ensure that they are among the six competing teams at the end of the regular season.

“We are doing everything possible to ensure that we pick one of the six slots to the playoffs. We are going to do our best in Lafia which is our next destination. It was a close win in Nnewi and we know that Nasarawa United will be tough before their fans,” said Okagbue.
