NPFL: Shooting Stars, Akwa United share Spoils in Ibadan
By BSN Sports
Shooting Stars Sports Club of Ibadan would have Ayo Adebuju to thank as he rescued them a point in the dying minutes of their NPFL matchday 2 game against Akwa United on Sunday.
Akwa United had earlier secured the lead through Utibe Archibong’s goal in the 29th minute of the first half pushing the home side to a high mountain to climb.
It was a historically-burden moment for Shooting Stars who were playing the NPFL game on their home ground for the first time after four years- having relegated from the elite league.
Akwa, who won the league last season were a hard knot for the Oluyole Warriors to crack as they took their lead to the last minute of the game.
For Shooting, who played a goalless draw against Gombe United in their league opener, Akwa’s game was an early test and perhaps a timely engagement which will help them strengthen their fold going forward.
Akwa didn’t fail to show their champion stuff as they took the game with caution, mastery and finesses -an indication that their 3-0 win over Kano Pillars last weekend wasn’t a fluke.
While Shooting faces Lobi Stars in the mid week game, Akwa United will be doing the battle against Gombe United.
Other results of the match day 2 includes;
Rangers Int’l 0-1 Enyimba Int’l
Rivers united 3-0 Katsina United
Abia Warriors 1-0 Sunshine Stars
Wikki Tourists 1-0 Niger Tornadoes
Plateau United 1-0 Kwara United
Dakkada FC 2-0 MFM FC
Remo Stars 3-0 Heartland FC
Nasarawa United 1-1 Gombe united
Kano Pillars 0-0 Lobi Stars
