NPFL: The club chairman was aware of my movement - Mathias

By Sampson Adedeji

Forward Samuel Mathias denied the news going around in the media that he went on AWOL and without club knowledge.

His club Akwa United in the course of the week released a statement saying former El Kanemi Warrior player has left the team camp with informing the club technical crew and management, BSN Reports

Mathias stated that he has to travel to Markurdi for treatment and club chairman was aware of his movement.

" I was shocked to read a statement from our media department that I left the club without permission. I told our chairman Paul Bassey that I was not feeling fine and I needed to travel home to treat myself but the chairman said I should wait until they come back from Kano for Pillars’ game.

“But I had to go because my condition was getting worse and I sent a text message to the chairman. The chairman is aware of my movement,” Mathias said.

Mathias joined the Promise Keeper from Lobi Star this season.
