NPFL: The Win Over Akwa United Is A Morale Booster - Bala Nikyu
By Sampson Adedeji
Head coach of the Nigeria Professional Football League Club Nasarawa United, Bala Nikyu, has said that the four substitutes he made during the match-day 10 tie against Akwa United was responsible for the win, BSNSports.com.ng reports.
After losing back to back games against Enyimba International, Plateau United and Rivers United, the Solid Miners came back strongly on Sunday and defeated the Promise Keepers 2-1.
Nikyu attributed their not too impressive performances in the previous matches to fatigue and other circumstances but believed they are ready to build on the win recorded against Akwa United.
"The game is all about losing and winning, it's on rare occasion that you have a draw and you will agree with me that the joy of the game is winning and losing. The way we support in this country, if somebody play and does not win sometimes there is problem for home team and match officials.
"So winning and losing is part of the game that is what make the game good.
"For today's match, we lost 3 straight matches and loses were not because we didn't play well, we did well and still ended up losing. Winning today's match is good for us because we have coming up from 7th position and now from there we can fight back.
"If situation warrant it you can 4 or 5 changes to the team, you can talk of fatigue because out of those people that changed has played almost like 8 games and definitely they human beings and moreso when the league started we had delay in medical clearance. So some that came in today has just playing for the first time and if someone came today and did well it means he has something to offer the team," he said.
