NPFL: Underdog Tag Motivated My Players - Ogunbote
Sampson Adedeji
Head Coach of the newly promoted Nigeria professional football league club Remo Stars, Gbenga Ogunbote, has said the underdog tag placed on his players motivated them to victory, BSNsports.com.ng can report.
The Sky Blue boys on Friday shocked MFM FC of Lagos 0-2 in the match-day one played at the Mobolaji Johnson Arena.
While reacting to the outcome of the game, the former Enugu Rangers manager said they call his players an underdog and he further said he told his players to score first in which they did.
"It was a sweet one, they call us underdog because we are a new team in the NPFL. We won’t be carried away with it.
"It’s just matchday one in the league, we still have thirty-seven games to play but it’s a good one for us.
"I told my players it could become anybody’s game. All we needed to do was to have a goal ahead of them, once we have a goal, then our confidence level will rise which we did," he said.
Remo Stars will hope to continue their impressive run when they host Heartland FC in the matchday 2 of the league.
