By Omolagba Oluwayemi
A goal fiesta it was today as the Nigeria Professional Football League entered week 17, BSNSports.com.ng reports.
Kwara United humiliated Adamawa United 5-0 at the Ilorin Township Stadium to return to the summit of the log while Lobi Stars battered Rivers United 4-1.
Kano Pillars on the road defeated Wikki Tourist 2-1 to go level on point with Kwara United on the summit, as MFM FC lost at home by the same scoreline to Akwa United.
Abia Warriors dismantled Kastina United 3-1 to extend their unbeaten run in the league to eight. Here was a team struggling to achieve results at the beginning of the season but now find themselves within a touching distance of the league summit.
If the intensity and competition level between the teams on top is sustained till the end of the season, this will be the most competitive NPFL season in recent times and it may go down the wire to decide who the eventual champions will be.
With four games still to go for week 17 all coming tomorrow, the round already produced two away victories, a draw and 22 goals scored.
