NPFL Wrap: Plateau Utd Maintain Lead As Rangers, Enyimba, Katsina Record Away Wins

The Nigeria Professional Football League Match Day 25 went down on Wednesday, March 18th across all centres with 10 Matches played, 6 homes wins, 3 away wins and 1 draw.

Dakkada 2-3 Rangers International
Israel Abia notched his 11th and 12th goal of the season as 10 men Rangers defeated Dakkada in a 5-goal thriller away from home. The win means Rangers has won 4 of their last 5 NPFL games and has lifted them into 4th place. Abia is now the highest goal scorer of the current NPFL campaign with 12 goals.

Adamawa United 0-2 Enyimba International
Goals in either half for Dimgba and Olisa Emeka was enough for Enyimba to defeat 20th placed Adamawa United away from home. The win now takes them up to 5th with 5 games in hand as they continue their hunt for a continental ticket.

Plateau United 2-1 Kwara United
Plateau maintained their 4 point lead at the summit of the NPFL table with a narrow win against Kwara United. Ibrahim Mustapha's first half brace took his tally for the season to 11 goals as Kwara's relegation woes continues.

Rivers United 3-0 Warri Wolves
Rivers ensured close contact with League Leaders, Plateau with a resounding win at home against Warri Wolves. Malachi Ohawuma scored 2 goals in a very comfortable afternoon in Pourtharcourt

MFM 2-1 Abia Warriors
After a poor run of 5 games without a win, MFM got back to winning ways with a slim 2-1 win over Abia Warriors. Placed 14th and 16th on the log, both teams are very much involved in the relegation battle with just 2 points separating them from the Relegation zone.

Jigawa Golden Stars 2-1 Heartland
Kalla Ali's 98th minute penalty condemned Heartland to a bitter loss in Jigawa having being level throughout the duration of the second half. The win just moved Jigawa Golden Stars a step up to the 18th position. Heartland are now placed 13th with just 3 points above the relegation zone.

Lobi Stars 1-0 Ifeanyi Ubah FC
3rd placed Lobi Stars managed a narrow win against FCIU. The only goal of the game which came in as early as the 5th minute was all but enough to ensure Lobi are still in the title race and also maintained a 6 points lead over 4th placed Rangers.

Nasarawa United 0-0 Akwa United
A stalemate at Nasarawa means Akwa United are now winless in their last 4 games. A run that has seen them now slip to the 6th position on the NPFL log. Nasarawa United are further down at 17th with very slim hopes of survival.

Wikki Tourist 1-0 Kano Pillars
Pillars, coming into the game with a 3 games unbeaten run and with high hopes for continental qualification slipped to a narrow loss as Mohammed Guda's 55th minute penalty proved the decisive goal today. The loss has taken them down to the 7th position behind Rangers and Enyimba who still have outstanding matches.

Sunshine Stars 1-2 Kastina United
In the 3rd away win of the Round, Kastina United defeated Sunshine Stars at the Akure Township Stadium this afternoon. Goals from Suleiman and Atule meant Sunshine Stars has now lost back to back NPFL games as both teams are now level on points and sitting 9th and 10th on the NPFL log.

Prior to earlier speculations that further NPFL games will be played behind closed doors, in a statement issued this evening, the NFF has announced the suspension of all forms of football activities in the country for the next four weeks. We await a new date for the resumption of the NPFL from the League Management Company (LMC) .
