By Admin
Federal Capital Territory, FCT, the host city of the 2018 National Sports Festival will on Thursday 6th December receives the 'Torch of Unity' at the popular Giri junction, Abuja, BSNSports.com.ng reports.
The torch which arrives Osun state last weekend will arrive FCT from Niger state.
Upon arrival, the Torch will be received by the six Area Council chairmen who according to information will present it to the FCT Minister Malam Mohammed Bello in his office in Federal Capital Territory Admistration (FCTA) secretariat before heading to the Sports Minister's office.
However, from all indications FCT looks not ready for a befitting and memorable hosting of the events which last hosted by Lagos in 2012.
For an event that starts next Thursday 6th December, one would have expected to see the city wear a new look by seeing banners on major streets; publicity on newspaper, jingles on radio and TV, road show among others, but there are nothing to show that FCT is hosting a major and magnitude event like a national sports festival.
Sadly, the facilities at the national stadium which will be used by athletes are not in proper shape; while some need to be serviced, most needed to be replaced with latest ones.
Bushes around and inside stadium are still uncleared.
As at the time of filing this reports, FCT minister has not approved the fund meant for the preparation of the festival.
2018 National Sports Festival will commence on 6th December and ends 16th December. The next hosts will be announced during the closing ceremony.
