NSF 2020: FCT Minister of State Sets to Release Fund For Zonal Elimination

Minister of Sate for FCT, Ramatu Tijani has made plans to ensure that FCT athletes are properly provided for ahead of the North central zonal elimination tentatively fixed for 20th January in Kwara state.


Director of sports for FCT, Dilichukwu Onyeadinma said since sports comes under the purview of minister of state for FCT, she has been making frantic efforts to ensure that FCT athletes are properly taking care of ahead of any championship or tournament while insisting that the mistakes made at the last National Youth Games in Ilorin does not repeat itself.


'We are already preparing for the zonal elimination tentatively fixed for kwara state and our athletes are getting ready,all thanks to minister of state for FCT, Ramatu Tijani who has been working round the clock to ensure that fund are made available for preparation and participation' she said.


It was gathered that the zone which comprises states such as Niger, Nasarawa, Kwara, Benue, Plateau, Kogi and FCT will hold the competition to determine the states that will represent the zone at the 2020 NSF in Edo.


The competition will feature 14 sports including team sporting events such as hockey, handball, volleyball, basketball, cricket, rugby, beach volleyball.


The elimination expected to start on 20 of January 2020 while winners of the various sporting events will represent the zone at the 20th NSF tagged “Edo 2020.”


No fewer than 8,500 athletes are expected to participate in the 20th edition of the National Sports Festival NSF.
The festival scheduled to hold from March 22 to April 1 would see the athletes competing for 3,000 medals from 33 sports.
