  NSF: Governor Obaseki Rewards Edo Athletes By Sampson Adedeji For their outstanding performances in the just concluded National Sports Festival in Edo State, Governor of the State, Godwin Obaseki has rewarded the state athletes, BSNSports.com.ng reports. Edo who hosted the event finished second on the medals table behind Delta State with 129 gold, 104 silver and 108 bronze medals, totalling 341 medals. At a ceremony held over the weekend Obaseki hailed athletes for their commitment at the drug free events. He announced the sum of N250,000 reward for gold medallist, N150 000 for silver medallist and N100 000 for bronze medallist. "Our athletes did well. They were not caught with drugs or caught doping. They did their best and won their medals without being involved in drugs. Our youths were well behaved throughout the competition. “The spirit of the National Sports Festival was born in this city after the Civil War as our leaders thought it wise to use the Games to unite the nation," he concluded. The events in Edo witnessed a lot of exciting moments alongside ugly stories especially with the incident of a kenyan machinery hired to compete for one of the states. This reward will also serve as a morale boaster for Athletes who wants to represent Edo State in the next event.
