Nwakali Shines As Super Eagles Lost To Atletico Madrid In Five Goals Thriller

By Niyi Busari It was an interesting game between Uefa Europa Cup champions, Atletico Madrid and Super Eagles Team B at the UJ Eusuene stadium Calabar as the international friendly match ended 3-2 in favour of the visitors. Kelechi Nwakali arguably the best player on the night, drew the first blood with a screamer that beat one of the best goalkeeper in the Oblak, in the 32nd minute. Atletico Madrid forward and man of the match Angel Corea put his team level in the 33rd minute. Flying Eagles captain Ikhewoum Udoh replaced Lobi Stars defender Ebube Duru who has been impressive from the left back before he injured his ankle. Substitute Fernando Torres scored the second goal for Atletico Madrid as he nodded past Rangers international goalkeeper, Femi Thomas. Super Eagles double substitute paid off as both Tosin Omoyele and Usman Mohammed combined well to bring Nigeria back to the game in the 80th minute. Five minute later, Borja Garges scored the winner for Atletico Madrid to make the final scores 3-2 in front of full packed stadium in Uyo, Calabar. Super Eagles will be playing another international friendly game against DR Congo next Monday in preparation ahead of the 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia.
