NWFL Ended Halfway, Play-off To Determine Winner, Relegation

  By Sampson Adedeji Nigeria Football league suffered a big blow on Monday as organiser of Nigeria Women Football League ( NWFL) under Aisha Falode agreed to end the league halfway, BSNSports.com.ng reports. During a virtual meeting on Monday Falode said top 6 teams will engage in a super six series to determine the winner while bottom 8 will also involve in the play-off. She cited clash in program with inaugural edition of the women CAF champions league as the reasons of ending the league halfway. " if NWFL should continued untill the 7th of July, Nigeria clubs will be ruled out of the West Africa Football Union ( WAFU) qualifier for CAF champions league which is slated to hold in May. And it will be counter-productive if we continue the league and miss out of Women CAF champions league which Nigeria clubs are working hard to win the inaugural edition. So NWFL board agreed with NWFL clubs to allow the top 6 at the end of the first on April 7 to play for the title in the Super 6 championship whose date and venue will be communicated to the qualified clubs while the bottom 8 clubs will engage in the play-off to determine the two teams that will be relegated," she stated.
