NWFL Management Postpones Kick off Date, Threatens To Expel Unregistered Clubs
By Niyi Busari
The management of Nigeria Women Football League (NWFL) have announced a one-week postponement of the league, BSNSports.com.ng can report.
The league body in a letter signed by the Chief Operating Officer, Ayo Abdulrahman also threatened to expel clubs that have not register if they do not do so by Friday 19th July 2019.
According to the Chief Operating Officer, COO, Mr Ayo Abdulrahman, the one-week shift is necessitated by the refusal of some clubs to complete their registration ahead the 2019/20 NWFL season.
The league body in a statement said that the shift is necessary after making several efforts to forestall the postponement.
"The league have made several efforts to forestall this kind of scenario, but we have not
received any response from all the clubs who also failed to pay up their outstanding which
is a pre-requisite for registration/participation.
"Subsequently, the board is poised to take a hard stand by postponing the kick-off of
the 2018/2019 Women Premier League by a week.
"By this postponement, all clubs that are unable to pay the outstanding as contained
in the attached document latest by Friday, the 19th of July, 2019 shall be expunged from the league, and a fresh draw shall be conducted by
the NWFL Secretariat to accommodate only the clubs that are compliant."
