NWFL To Run For 7 Weeks - Aisha Falode

The Nigeria Women Football League will run for seven weeks when it finally kicks off after the coronavirus pandemic, BSNSports.com.ng can report.
This was revealed by the Chairman, Nigeria Women Professional League (NWFL), Aisha Falode on Wednesday during the management committee of the league held via video conference on the way forward for the delayed league season.
In a statement released by the NWFL Media and made available to BSN Sports reads: "The Head of the NWFL Management Committee, Aisha Falode, briefed the meeting on the outcome of the video conferencing held between the Minister of Youth and Sports Development and the NFF Board members and also outcome of the NFF Board meeting.
"She informed the house on the directive of the Hon. Minister, Mr. Sunday Dare, on the insistent that all leagues for 2019/2020 season must be played. The Minister gave directives on resumption of the league, where the core preventive measures of Covid 19 must be strictly observed."
She also advised the clubs not to deduct the salaries of players following the economic hardship brought by the covid-19 pandemic and that the clubs should also come up with well-equipped medical equipment.
"The Management of the clubs were also told not deduct from the players salaries as a result of Covid 19; Players' salaries must be paid up-to-date; appropriate medical tests must be carried out on all players and officials of each club; Clubs must make available a standard and well equipped medical ambulance with a qualified medical doctor; and that the resumption of the new season will be contingent upon when FIFA and Federal Government lift ban on football activities."
She revealed that the league will run for seven weeks to determine the champions after the coronavirus pandemic.
"The time of the year when the ban on football must have been lifted will form the decision about the format of the league to be adopted as the Hon. Minister instructed that each league will run for seven weeks to determine the league champions."
