Chinedu Obasi’s bid to stage a comeback at Bundesliga outfit Hoffenheim has ended without the Super Eagles not offered a contract.

Obasi, 34, has been training with his first German club with his representatives confident he would be offered a deal.

However, Hoffenheim has now announced it won’t be a second home coming for the Nigeria forward.

Manager Alexander Rosen told Bild‘: “He will not play a role for us for the new season.

“He is now 34 and hasn’t played for a long time.”

Rosen further said the club will support free agent Obasi.

“We can support him as we have done so far or through advanced training with the U23s, we will be very happy to do so for this wonderful player and person.”

Obasi, who was last year not given a contract extension by Swedish club AIK Solna, first featured for the club between 2007 and 2012.
