Obi Mikel talks kidnapping before Chelsea move

Obi
Former Nigeria and Chelsea midfielder John Obi Mikel has somewhat set the record straight regarding his kidnapping misfortune when he was set to join the Blues in 2006, BSNSports.com.ng reports. The bulky midfielder signed a pre-contract with Manchester United but ended up at Chelsea after leaving Lyn. The Norwegian had reported rumours that Mikel had gone missing before it was believed that the Nigerian was kidnapped. “Yes, there was talk of that,” laughed Mikel. “Look, I wasn’t really kidnapped. I was just staying away from the public eye, away from the press, making sure no one knew where I was. “But there was a public announcement in Norway that, if anyone saw me, they should report it to the police, so we had to go and hide. “Obviously, United were trying to get hold of me, so were Lyn. There were some tough times. It was like a movie,” Mikel concluded.
