Odey makes competitive debut in Genk loss

RKC Genk lost its first match of the season 1-3 in the 2019/20 Jupiler League to KV Mechelen, BSNSports.com.ng can report.

It was a sad day for former MFM FC of Lagos striker Stephen Odey in Belgium Jupiler league on Saturday night as his club RKC Genk suffered a 3-1 loss to KV Mechelen.

Odey joined Genk this summer from Switzerland premier league side FC Zurich and has played in some preseason friendly matches for the club.

William Togui netted the first goal for host in the 18th minute before Tanzania international Mbwana Samatta leveled the game in the 45th minute.

Two goals from Gustavo Engvall and Igor Camargo in the second stanza ensured that Mechelen secured a maximum points.

Odey was introduced in the 83rd minute for Joseph Pantsil and posed a constant threat to Mechelen backline for the remaining minutes in the game.
