Ogunjobi Gold Cup returns to Ilorin

The organisers of Nigeria's foremost Pre-season Tournament 'Gold Cup', have concluded arrangements to stage the 7th edition of the competition in Ilorin, Kwara State capital.
The tournament which has since been named after its life patron, late Chief Taiwo Joseph Ogunjobi would take place next month.
Several states have been understandably jostling for the hosting right of the tournament which was last held in Akure, Ondo State.
Oyo State, Ogun State, Osun State, Ondo State and a North Central state Kwara State were amongst the top contenders willing to host the much talked about soccer fiesta.
The tourney's General Coordinator Tunde Shamsudeen told Gold Cup Media after long hours of deliberations and considerations, that Kwara State was given the nod once again as the new Kwara FA Chairman, Malam Idris Abdullahi Musa 'Thuraya' and the Secretary of Club Owners Association, who is also the Director of Football of ABS FC, Alloy Chukwuemeka, promised to give the most organized Pre-season tourney in Nigeria the best technical support ever.
Recall that the 2017 edition was hosted in Ilorin Kwara State as seven-time league champion Kano Pillars edged Lobi Stars in the final to emerge champion.
