Okoye Determined To Be Nigeria's Number Goalkeeper
By Emediong Silver
Sparta Rotterdam goalkeeper, Maduka Okoye, has vowed to give everything to become the number goalkeeper for the Super Eagles of Nigeria, BSNSports.com.ng can report.
Nigeria has struggled to replace Vincent Enyeama with a better goal tender since his retirement from international duty in October 2015. From that time till now we have had many goalkeepers who many Nigeria think could replace Enyeama but they never came close. The likes of Francis Uzoho, Ikechukwu Ezenwa and Daniel Akpeyi have struggled to impress whenever they are called upon.
In his words, “I’m happy to be in the team. It’s always better to have a clean sheet but I’m looking forward to more games with the team. “I will keep doing my thing and do my best and give my coach the reason to make me the Eagles first- choice goalkeeper.” Okoye said
Consistency will be key to matching his ambition. Also, he will be hoping to play regularly for his club Sparta Rotterdam as he returns for league football.
Okoye was in goal for the Nigeria's senior national in their two friendly matches against Algeria and Tunisia where he put up superlative performance, conceded one goal in two games
