Nigeria's Super Eagles and Sparta Rotterdam goalkeeper, Maduka Okoye, has paid respect to the former coach of Super Eagles Gernot Rohr, BSNsports.com.ng can report.
Despite the huge criticism, Rohr gave a debut to Okoye against Brazil when he was playing for Germany's 4th division club Fortuna Dusseldorf II.
Since his debut, Okoye has become a regular with the national team and was in goal for the 2021 African Cup of Nations qualifiers and 2022 World Cup qualifier.
Okoye praised Rohr for the belief and trust he has in him in the last three years.
"You turned my young football career around, helped me and gave this career a big boost!
You let me do what I always dreamed of, Playing for my fatherland Nigeria.
"Thank you for almost 3 amazing years, your support and your trust.
I’m wishing you all the best Coach Rohr," he said.
Okoye is expected to be part of the Super Eagles team to the 2021 AFCON that is slated for Cameron in January 2022.
