Olympic Eagles arrive Khartoum to take on Sudan for AFCON Under-23 1st leg clash

Nigeria's U-23 team has arrived in Khartoum, the Sudanese capital ahead of the crucial 3rd round AFCON U-23 qualifiers against Sudan.

The team comprising 18 players and 12 officials, arrived Khartoum International airport aboard an Ethiopian Airline at 12:00am Nigerian time.

The team's captain Azubuike Okechukwu, speaking via telephone chat, said, "we are pleased to have arrived Sudan ahead of the must win match against the Sudanese team. We hope to win the match so as not to play under any form of pressure in the return leg in Asaba." "As a team, we know it is only victory that can ensure our qualification to Olympics", the former Bayelsa United player added.

The match is billed to take place Thursday the 5th of September, at the Omdurman stadium, about 25 kilometers away from the capital Khartoum.

The team is expected to have their first training session today at 4:00 pm Nigerian time and the return leg of the match is slated for the 10th of September, at the Stephen Keshi Stadium, in Asaba, Delta State.
