Olympic Eagles Defeat Nasarawa Utd As Team Leave For Egypt Today

Two second half goals from Kelechi Nwakali and Habib Safiyan was all the Nigeria U23 national team needed to see off Ahlan Cup winner, Nasarawa United in Pre-U23 African Nations Cup warm-up match decided at the FIFA Goal Project, MKO Abiola Stadium Abuja, BSNSports.com.ng can report.

Unlike their performance on Tuesday in a friendly match against Niger Tornadoes the Olympic Eagles on Wednesday are more coordinated, dominated most part of the friendly match and have overall better performance.

Valentine Ozornwafor, Blessing Olabiran, Sunusi Ibrahim, Kelechi Nwakali, Orji Okonkwo, Tom Dele-Bashiru, Ndifreke Effiong, Olisa Ndah, Sincere Seth were among the eleven named players to start the friendly match.

Meanwhile, according to a source close to the team, the Olympic Eagles will jet out of the country today to Egypt through Nnamdi Azikiwe Airport Abuja at 2:00 pm.

The defending champions will continue its preparations in Egypt ahead of the 2019 U23 African Nations Cup. Nigeria is in group B alongside Cote d'Ivoire, South Africa and Zambia.

Eight countries will compete for three tickets to participate in the Men's Football Tournament at the 2020 Olympics in Tokyo.
