Super Eagles duo of Kenneth Omeruo and Victor Moses will resume pre-season programme with their English Premier League side, Chelsea, on the 16th of July at the club’s Surrey headquarters ahead of the Blue’s departure for a training camp in Australia.
Moses and Omeruo featured for Nigeria at the ongoing World Cup in Russia, Moses played in all three games for the Super Eagles of Nigeria while Omeruo played a part in the team’s last two games.
Gernot Rohr charges failed to advance past the group stages losing 2-0 to Croatia, winning 2-0 against Iceland and losing 2-1 to Argentina in their last match in Group D.
The Super Eagles netted only three goals at the World Cup in Russia and they were scored by Ahmed Musa and Victor Moses. Musa scored a brace in the 2-0 win over Iceland, while Moses scored the consolatory goal when the Eagles lost 2-1 to Argentina.
Kenneth Omeruo is yet to play for Chelsea in a competitive game, while Moses played 38 times in all competitions for Chelsea last season, and ended the campaign winning the English FA Cup for the first time. Moses scored three goals in 2017/18 season against Brighton, West Brom and Burnley, playing at right wing-back.
Chelsea’s players of Nigeria descent who were left out of the 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia, Ola Aina, and Fikayo Tomori and other Chelsea players who did not participate at the World Cup are expected to resume pre-season at the club this weekend.
These players will have medical and fitness tests at Cobham. Chelsea’s first pre-season fixture is against Perth Glory in Australia on July 23.
