Tosin Omoyele has stated that Enyimba International are battle ready for their CAF Confederation Cup clash with Rivers United in Aba with the striker also promising to give his best in the encounter, BSNSports.com.ng reports.
Enyimba will lock horns with Rivers United at the Enyimba Stadium for the first leg of the Confederation Cup playoff on Sunday after dropping from the CAF Champions League where they lost out to Al Merreikh 4-2 on aggregate.
Omoyele is currently in a rich vein of form, having recently rediscovered his goal-scoring touch since joining The Aba Elephants in September last year with three goals in his last two Nigerian Professional Football League (NPFL) appearances.
Omoyele was asked: ‘Enyimba will play host to Rivers United in Aba in the first leg, second Preliminary Round of the CAF Confederation Cup this Sunday. Do you think your goals will bury your opponents?’
The young forward replied: “Yes, we are playing against Rivers United in the CAF Confederation Cup this Sunday, I will always do my best for the team to achieve success. My colleagues and I have been working very hard.
“That is for us to get the victory we need and as a striker, you just need to put your team in front with goals and as far as the chances come, I will try to put the ball in the back of the net.
“And I think we are ready for the game. Yes, we are ready.”
He was also asked: ‘Also, Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike has told the players and officials of Rivers United Football Club to beat Enyimba and get N20m cash. Isn’t that enough motivation for Rivers United to make sure that they beat Enyimba?’
“Yes, as you can see, the governor of Rivers State has motivated the players and officials of Rivers United by promising them N20m if they beat Enyimba, well, it is part of the game.
“It is a good way of motivation but that does not mean we, Enyimba players are relenting, it is just a means of motivation to our opponents but like I said earlier, we are ready.
“We just need to bring our heads down, it is for us to just face the match like a normal game, although, we all know that is a big task for us as we know that it is not an easy game.
“But we believe that by the end of the match, God will crown our efforts,” Omoyele summed it all up by going philosophical.
