CAF Celebrates Madagascar 2-0 Win Over Nigeria In 2019 AFCON

Confederation of African Football, CAF, on Tuesday praised the efforts of the Madagascar national team for their 2-0 win over Nigeria's Super Eagles in the group match of the 2019 African Nations Cup in hosted by Egypt, BSNSports.com.ng can report.

In remembrance of the surprise defeat to Nigeria exactly one year after, the African football governing body wrote on its official twitter handle,

"A massive result this time last year from 🇲🇬 Madagascar as they defeat 🇳🇬 Nigeria in the #TotalAFCON2019 group stage!

Not only did they qualify for the knockouts for the first time ever, they topped the group as well 👏"

Madagascar claimed the upset of the Africa Cup of Nations with a stunning 2-0 win over Nigeria in the group match played on Sunday, 30th June, 2019.

The 108th-ranked team were competing in the tournament for the first time and were unfancied against the three-time AFCON champions.

Madagascar were unbeaten at the Africa Cup of Nations three group matches, ending the group stage with a surprise 2-0 win over Nigeria.

The Super Eagles of Nigeria went on to win bronze finishing third behind champions, Algeria and Senegal, the runners up.
