Henry Onyekuru is delighted to be back with his Super Eagles teammates following his injury-induced absence from the team after some months away from the national team, BSN reports.
The forward is among the 20 Super Eagles players currently in Victoria preparing for Saturday’s 2019 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying match against hosts Seychelles.
Onyekuru was invited a couple of times by Super Eagles head coach, Gernot Rohr during the qualifiers for the 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia and was in the team that lost 2-0 at home to South Africa in their first qualifying game for AFCON 2019 last June.
A long term injury he picked up while in action for Belgian club, Anderlecht last December put paid to his chances of fighting for a place in Nigeria’s 2018 World Cup squad.
He has now been handed an invitation back into the team on the back of his impressive early season form for Turkish club, Galatasaray and he is enjoying every bit of his time with his international teammates.
“Great to be back with my brothers. Nice little beach workout today. Africa is Beautiful!!! 🇳🇬🦅 #GoodTimes #GreatPeople,” Onyekuru tweets on his Twitter handle on Wednesday.
He however, optimistic of Super Eagles win over Seychelles in the African Cup of Nations qualifiers in Victoria.
