Optimum Performance Academy Emerges Champions Of Abuja Super 4 Soccer Tournament By Our Reporter Optimum Performance Football Academy over the weekend emerged champions of the Super 4 Soccer Tournament held at the Britarch International School, Lugbe. The young ebullient players brushed aside Britarch Eagles 2-0 in the final played on Saturday to emerge triumphant. The Super 4 Soccer Tournament which was attended by two other clubs - IB Sports Dreams and My Hope Academy - was held to herald the much-awaited Abuja Champions League U-15 competition slated to commence in July this year Speaking after the final, the President of SWAT Football Club, Mr Olumide Lawal, who doubles as the host, said the Super 4 Soccer Tournament which was for U-15 players, was held as signpost for the U-15 Abuja Super League. He noted that the tournament which was a huge success, has given coaches and clubs as well as academy managements that have registered for the Abuja Champions League, ACL a glimpse of what they should expect when the competition starts in late July. “The tournament was a huge success expectedly. It measured up to what we are out to achieve and the quality was superb. “You could see that the players enjoyed the game and the clubs' managements were extremely happy for what the saw. “Actually, the essence of the Super 4 Soccer Tournament was to testrun our mega competition, the U-15 Abuja Champions League which will hold from last week of July till middle of the August. “The ACL is a 32-team comepetition with clubs/academies from all over Nigeria are taking part in. It's going to be a tournament were football talent hunters would find quality grassroots talents," he explained. Apart from various medals giving the teams, some cash awards were also given to them as sources of encouragement and appreciation for their participation.
