Orji Okwonkwo Dumps Montreal Impact, Seeks Better Deal In Europe

Orji
Golden Eaglets’ revelation at Chile 2015 FIFA U-17 World Cup, Orji Okwonkwo has snubbed an opportunity of extending his loan spell with Thierry Henry’s Montreal Impact of Canada, as he prefers getting back into the mainstream of European football, BSNSports.com.ng gathered. Although he has cemented his place in the starting squad of Montreal and netted a chain of goals for the club that feature in USA’s Major League Soccer (MLS), Okwonkwo is not thinking of staying put, as he wants to feel the glamour of Europe once more. He has failed to tie down a regular spot with his parent club, Bologna of Italy, but the pal of SSC Napoli sensation, Victor Osimhen in the Eaglets’ squad of 2015 wants to try another shot at getting a breakthrough in The Land of The Azzurri, following the conclusion of his loan spell with Montreal. A report by allnigeriasoccer.com added: “Bologna are mulling over whether to reintegrate Okwonkwo into the squad, or loan him out to another European club for the remainder of the 2020-2021 season. “The 22-year-old is presently in Nigeria on holidays and is due to return to Italy next week, and his future at Bologna will be sorted out before the close of the January transfer window. “Montreal Impact considered the possibility of exercising the purchase option inserted into the deal taking him to the club in January but the winger opted to return to Europe. “He made half a century of appearances across two loan spells at Montreal Impact, scoring ten goals while providing three assists. “Okwonkwo extended his contract with Bologna before joining the team coached by legendary Arsenal striker, Thierry Henry.”
