After spending over 15 years as a football player, former Nigeria's Super Eagles attacker Osaze Odemwingie has turned a professional golf player, BSNSports.com.ng can report.

BSN reports that the Uzbekistan born player started his professional football career with Bendel Insurance of Benin before moving to Belgium, he also played in France and Russia before spending seven years in English football.

He was admitted on Monday as a Professional golf player after spending some years as an amateur player and he was extremely excited.

"I am very proud to become a member of this great association (PGA),” he said

“Congratulations, as of today your registration with the PGA has been accepted and a place on the PGA Training Programme and University of Birmingham Foundation Degree in Professional Golf Studies has been allocated to you.

“Your amateur status has now been relinquished and you are now officially classified as a PGA Assistant Professional,” the statement read.

Osaze who won three Premier League Player of the Month awards at West Bromwich Albion, where he scored 30 goals in 87 league outings, make his debut for Nigeria against Kenya in Lagos in 2002 and went on to make 63 appearances and netted 10 goals for Super Eagles.
