Oshoala Scores Again As Barcelona Annihilate Alaves By Our Reporter Super Falcons captain, Asisat Oshoala scored her seventh league goal of the season as Barcelona humiliated Alaves 9-1 in the match-day 5 fixture of Spanish Primera Iberdrola. The league leaders came from behind to score nine goals which took the game beyond Alaves’ reach. Nerea Nevado set up Clark who gave Alaves the lead in the 16th minute and became the first player to score a league goal against Barcelona this season. Bruna Vilamala, Lieke Martens, and Ana-Maria Crnogorčevic responded with three goals for FC Barcelona before the halftime break. Mariona Caldentey, Caroline Hansen, Melanie Serrano, Claudia Pina, and Jana Fernandez scored five more goals after the interval before Oshoala converted Barcelona’s ninth goal in the 84th minute. Oshoala who didn’t start the game replaced Fridolina Rolfö in the 64th minute. Osinachi Ohale played full 90 minutes for Alaves as her side suffered their consecutive defeat in the league after last weekend’s 3-2 loss to Atletico Madrid. Despite conceding its first league goal of the season, FC Barcelona maintained its perfect start to the league season and occupy the first position on the league table with a maximum of 15 points from five games ahead of its next game against Barclays English FA Women’s Super League (WSL) side, Arsenal in the group stage of the 2021/2022 UEFA Women’s Champions League on October 5.
