Osimehn, Simon Listed For African Best Players In France

Lille's Nigeria international Victor Osimhen and Nantes Player of The Season, Moses Simon have been listed African Best Player of the Year in France.

The duo were among the eleven African players nominated for 2020 Marc-Vivien Foe award for the Best African Player in Ligue 1.

Osimhen, 21, who joined the club in August from Belgian side RSC Charleroi, scored 18 goals with 6 assists in 38 appearances in all competitions for the French Ligue 1 side.

Simon, who recently emerged Nantes Best Player of The Year scored 9 goals with 8 assists in 30 appearances for the French Ligue 1 side could be a favourite to clinch the award.

Other nominees are; Andy Delort, Algerian defender playing for Montpellier, Dennis Bouanga, a winger with Saint Etienne,.

Senegal has four nominees, the only goalkeeper in the selected eleven nominees is Senegales international and Rennes safest hand, Edouard Mendy. Other Senegal players are, Habib Dialo, Idrissa Gueye, M'Baye Niang plying their trade with FC Metz, PSG and Rennes respectively.

Algeria and Monaco forward, Islam Slimani complete the eleven the nominees.

Osimhen was part of the Nigeria side that won the Under-23 Africa Cup of Nations in Senegal in November 2015, which also qualified them for the 2016 Rio Olympics.

His exploits saw him crowned the 2015 Confederation of African Football (Caf) Youth Player of the Year .
He has played for Nigeria at all levels, from Under-17 to the full senior side, for whom he has won seven caps.
