Osun Sports Development, a Top Priority - Ministry of Sports

The ministry of Youth and Sports, State of Osun has assured citizens and residents of the state of its commitment to develop the sports sector and make it a means of empowering youth.
Special Adviser to the Governor on Youth and Sports, Aremo Gboyega Adelabu stated this while speaking with newsmen shortly after the virtual meeting organized by the ministry, where Governor Gboyega Oyetola interacted with Osun youth in commemoration of this year's International Youth Day.
Aremo Adelabu who described sports as an avenue of raising energetic youth that can take active part in the nation building stressed that the platform for sports development has been created by the state government through availability of sporting facilities in all Middle and High Schools across the state while contractor has returned to site to ensure quick completion of the facilities required for training by athletes and clubs.
"The contractors have returned to the Osogbo Township Stadium to complete the projects so that athletes in all games where Osun has comparative advantages can start their training. As you can see, for security purpose and to halt the process of encroachment into the acres of land earmarked for the stadium, the fencing has been done. Apart from this, the ministry has concluded arrangement to ensure regular wetting of the football pitch by installing equipment that will facilitate regular water availability and supply."
"We have inspected the stadium and identified needed things to be done to facilitate quick return to action by our athletes, coaches and football players as soon as the suspension on sporting activities is lifted by the federal government. All these have to be done gradually and we promise to leave no stone unturned in making Osun the best at various events we feature," stated Hon. Adelabu.
On the issues of Osun United and Osun Babes, the Commissioner for Youth and Sports, Mr. Yemi Lawal hinted that "we have met with the two boards to fashion out ways of repositioning the clubs for optimal performances. We have reached advanced stage of discussion and very soon, we shall come out with our plans."
" I want to assure you that salaries of coaches and athletes shall be paid while preparations are on top gear to fine tune every arrangement to strengthen the squads. We just plead with our people to be patient and join hands with us in our efforts at taking Osun sports to a greater height," the commissioner urged.
