Over 220 Golfers Hit Abuja For FCT President Golf Tourney

The inaugural FCT President Golf tournament which will on Saturday 2nd February, Tee-off at the IBB Golf international and Country, Abuja, BSNSports.com.ng reports.

Over 220 golfers are expected to participate in the tournament.

The FCT Golf Association Chairman, Engineer Oladapo Rotimi while addressing journalists in Abuja noted that the tournament will mark the take-off of many tournaments scheduled for this year.

The present board which was inaugurated last year September 2018 with the mandate to develop the game of golf in the capital city promised to organize many tournaments in 2019 and this is just one of many to come.

According to him, "Golfers are expected from all over the country to participate in the inaugural tournament and it will be annual among other events to be organized by this Association.

The Association will use the game of golf to develop tourism and social economic in the capital city.

"We aim to use the game of golf to develop tourism social economic development of the capital city. And to us the game of golf for positive societal unity and harmony.

The chairman thanked the minister of FCT, Malam Mohammed Bello for the release of a piece of land for the development of the game at the grassroots level.

"The minister of FCT has graciously provided a piece of land for the Golf Association to develop the public golf field and allow Abuja residents the opportunity to the public golf field to learn and play this noble game.

"Our profound gratitude to Malam Mohammed Bello, the FCT Minister for the historical kind gesture.

He however, encourage Abuja residents to join the Association.

"Meanwhile the Association is opened to every Abuja residents to be part of it."
