Para-Table tennis: Nigeria Wins 2 Silver, 1 Bronze Medals in China

By Editor Nigeria Para-Table Tennis team to the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games qualifiers that ended in Beijing, China at the weekend returned to the country yesterday (Monday) with three medals. The delegation, which was made up of three male and one female players came home with two silver and one bronze medals, BSN Sports reports. Tajudeen Agunbiade who lost 3-2 to Gustas Daniel Sun from Sweden in the men’s singles class10 category accounted for one of the two silver medals while the second one came through the combined efforts of Gold Coast 2018 Commonwealth Games silver medalist, Faith Obazuaye and Lin Tzu Yu of Taipe in the women class 10 team event when they were beaten 2-0 by China in the final. The bronze medal was won by the duo of Olufemi Olabiyi and Tajudeen Agunbiade who were beaten 2-1 in the men’s class 10 team event by China. Coach of the team Sunday Odebode has praised his players for their effort considering the fact that is almost a decade since Nigeria took part in the Championships. Odebode commended an Executive Board Member of the Nigeria Table Tennis Federation, Anderson Bankole, Deputy Commissioner of Police who did everything within his powers to ensure that Nigeria’s flag was among those hoisted at the weeklong Championship.
