Para weightlifing boss hails First Lady for support


President of para weightlifting Queen Oboh Idris heaped praises on Aisha Buhari for throwing her weight behind the Abuja 2020 World para weightlifting championship.


Oboh expressed gratitude to the First Lady for given them the opportunity to unveil the Mascot at the Villa.
"what we require now is sponsorships and we appeal to private and corporate organizations to come to our aid," she said.
If 2% per cent of what is given to Football to para weightlifting team there will be a harvest of medals for Nigeria in Tokyo 2020 Olympics.
We are one of the federations that has brought more laurels to the country.
We also appealing for the government to come to our aid by providing equipment.


Speaking with the journalist at the closing ceremony of Abuja 2020 World Cup qualifier, the creame-de-la-creame in the Federal Capital Territory who came with the entourage of the First Lady, Dr Mrs Aisha Muhammadu Buhari heaped praises for the support, solidarity and for the WorldDisabilityDay.
The celebration which brought many smiles and happiness to participants across the country beamed light on the ongoing U20 National Para Powerlifting Qualifiers, stipulated for 1st - 4th, December inside the Gymnasium - Package B, MKO Abiola National Stadium, Abuja.


Declaring the day open, Director of Grassroot Sports under the Federal Ministry of Youth and Sports Development, Dr Demola Are, asserted that "by developing the youths, we are keeping people out of the streets and handing them noble professions in sports."


Also speaking at the event, President of Nigeria Para Powerlifting Federation - NPPF, Mrs. Queen Idris said: "when I talk, I talk to let the disabled people in Nigeria know that there is still hope, begging should never be the resort."
And with the sense of confidence, the people's president pledges: "I assure Nigerians that with adequate camping for two months, quality coaches as we already have, we will be bringing back fifteen gold medals to Nigeria from Tokyo2020Olympics."
