PFAN Begins Seeking Redress After Failed 90-day Ultimatum By NFF BY Our Reporter The Task Force of the country’s players’ union, PFAN, has announced today that it will begin the process to seek redress after the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) failed to comply with a 90-day ultimatum to amend the NFF Statutes for better representation of other major stakeholders. After a meeting in Warri, Delta State, today, the Task Force stated: “Having exhausted all avenues of due process as enshrined in the various provisions of FIFA, CAF, NFF and the Constitution of Federal Republic of Nigeria, the Task Force is left with the only option to commence the process of getting justice from the appropriate institutions /authorities. “The Task Force members have also agreed to rely on the status of its members as major Stakeholders in the industry to press home these demands.” Here is the full communiqué: OUR PLACE IN THE NIGERIA FOOTBALL FEDERATION (NFF) PREAMBLE Project 2022 Task Force, an offshoot of PFAN met on the 26th of June 2021 in Warri Delta State to Seek ways to correct the flaws and impediments that has made Footbal Development stunted for too long as especially occasioned by the unfair composition of the 2010 NFF statutes in favor of the States Football Associations with 37 votes out of the 44 votes of the NFF Congress members In view of the above the Task Force wrote a letter to the President of the NFF to communicate the demands of the Task Force with a 90 days mandatory notice from the 26th of June 2021, vide the relevant provisions of Article 27 sub 1&2 of the NFF Statutes 2010 as amended hinged on the following: 1 Amendments of the current NFF Statutes 2010 in a) Composition of the NFF Congress b) Composition of the Executive Committee of the NFF c) Voting Pattern d) Any other relevant provisions of the NFF Statutes 2010 in Consonance with FIFA, CAF, NFF and the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria 1999 as amended OBSERVATIONS From 26th of June 2021 when the aforementioned demands were communicated to the NFF, the Task Force has observed the following: 1 The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) under the leadership of its President Amaju Pinnick has failed to acknowledge/ respond to the letter of demand of the Task Force at the expiration of the mandatory 90 days notice . Its important also to mention here that a further 14 days grace period/ reminder was given to the NFF to effect the relevant amendments yet it was not complied with. 2 That within the aforementioned period the NFF hurriedly called for an illegal extraordinary Congress in violation of the 30 days mandatory notice as contained in Article 29 (1,2,3,4,& 5)of the NFF Statutes which the PFAN excused itself from attending because of the non compliance with the Nff statutes of 2021. 3 That a Statutes Amendment Committee was hurriedly and illegally constituted by the NFF during the illegal extraordinary Congress to look into possible areas of amendment of the NFF Statutes without recourse to the relevant provisions of how to effect affect amendments to the 2010 Nff statutes as amended. 4 That an attempt to distract and scuttle the effort of the Task Force, the president of the NFF Amaju Pinnick decided to promote and sponsor a supposed group known as All Nigeria Players Union ANPU using some members of PFAN to drive his third term ambition as president of the NFF. However, in furtherance of the above the PFAN executives have timeously activated the appropriate committees to deal with the issue.
