Pinnick, A Nail In The Nigeria Football's Coffin - Stakeholder
By Niyi Busari
Nigeria football stakeholder, Harrison Jalla has described the president of the Nigeria Football Federation, NFF, Amaju Pinnick has a nail in the coffin of the country's football, BSNSports.com.ng can report.
Jalla in a statement made available to BSN Sports added no federation president dead or alive since 1945 had bad leadership qualities like Pinnick adding that those who have been waiting to see Messiah that will lead Nigeria football to the Eldorado still need to wait more as he exposed ways he used in syphoning funds meant for football development.
The statement reads in part; "While many expected Pinnick to improve Nigeria's football, the NFF President cleverly turned it to a God-given chance to enrich his pocket. Some of his numerous exposed embezzlement strategies are; warehousing NFF funds through a private company and designing outrageous percentages through proxy agents to corner NFF sponsorship funds." Harrison Jalla said.
He added, "To make things more interesting, Pinnick milked State Governors and corporate Nigeria to fund a trip to CAF, an attempt which ended in shame. His undoing by trying to install his cronies as Football Association Chairmen which arouse artificial crises in the affairs of the governing of Delta, Anambra and Taraba football. The same attempt which was resisted by Edo, Rivers and Ondo states football Associations.
He insisted that Rivers United can not be punished for the outburst of the state's commissioner for sports.
"Pinnick threats to sanction Rivers United, over the Rivers State Sports commissioner comments during a media interview, who threatened to expose the NFF President and Shehu Dikko of their secret crimes. His (Pinnick) reaction shed more light on the type of leader Pinnick is, and his decision to send a threatening letter to Rivers United ordering a retraction of the interview and a public apology within 48 hours or be sanctioned.
It's crystal clear that Pinnick deserve some sticks for doing that, and of course Rivers United have no reason to be axed for a speech made by the commissioner, and I feel Human Right gave us all freedom of expression, including a right to express football opinions on the media. The question on our minds must be whether the commissioner is the spokesman for Rivers United? The threatening letter wasn't necessary.
Challenging times like this are to show a leader's problem-solving skills and intellect. And with the way things are panning out, it's safe to say Pinnick has proved to be a nail in Nigeria football's coffin.
"Pinnick is making history for the wrong reasons as no NFF President, dead or alive, has ever been this poorly conducted since the inception of organized football in 1945. I can say we made a grievous mistake with his appointment." He concluded
The Nigeria Football Federation last Tuesday ratified the League Management Company (LMC) 2019/20 Nigeria Professional Football League table. The final standings saw Enyimba International on the second position. This was rejected by Rivers United insisting that they are suppose to be second and not third on the log using goal difference.
Both teams had same point coefficient, to determine the second and third on the log, LMC had used Head-to-Head to place Enyimba ahead of Rivers United. However, Rivers United have better Goa difference.
