Pinnick Beseech CAF President On 'Broken' Relationship Ahead Thursday's General Assembly

By Admin

BSN Sports scooped that Nigeria Football Federation President, Amaju Pinnick was seen on Sunday at halftime in the 2019 AFCON semifinal between the Super Eagles and Algeria begging CAF boss, Ahmad Ahmad to fix their frosty relationship.

According to ScoreNigeria, Pinnick was accompanied to the truce meeting with Ahmad Ahmad by presidents of two West African football federations.

Another peace meeting between the two men was in Dakar, Senegal, earlier this year with FIFA president Gianni Infantino in the middle.

There has been a “cold war” between the two top officials and this frosty relationship has been evident at the AFCON in Egypt.

On Sunday, SCORENigeria reported that CAF have distanced themselves from a claim by the Pinnick-led Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) that they spent a whooping $565,473 (more than 198 million Naira) to attend a CAF congress in 2015.

CAF in a letter to Special Presidential Investigative Panel said rather than receive money from member-associations for such events like a congress, they bear the expenses of delegates.

Pinnick has on several occasions not hidden his ambition to be CAF president even after he was appointed by Ahmad Ahmad as 1st vice-president in place of banned Kwesi Nyankakyi of Ghana.

The CAF executive committee will meet today in Cairo ahead of the General Assembly on Thursday
