As the debates on the Nigeria's Super Eagles list of players continues, president of Nigeria Football Federation Amaju Melvin Pinnick has cleared the air on reason why team skipper Ahmed Musa was part of the invited players,BSNSports.com.ng reports.
Since the release of the list few days back, football stakeholders and fans has continue to debate on the inclusion of Musa at the expense of inform Genk of Belgium striker Paul Onuachu.
Former Leicester City attacker left his Saudi Arabia Premier League Club Al Nasr in November 2020 and is yet to secure a move to another club.
" I'm not in the technical team, I'm the president of the federation. If Musa is in the team they have a reason to justify it.
When Musa has problem at Leicester, he was not playing, we are to play a qualifying match, when I saw the list and I didn't see his name I called the coach, and he said is not playing, and I said is your responsilities to find out why is not playing, is he technically deficient or has issues at home, I told the coach if you have space invite him.
See what happened in Russia. Musa has been our best player in the last two world cup.
I'm not trying to justify his calling but is an exceptional player not only on the field but off it.
He produced leadership that I marveled at everytime, may because is a motivator," he told Arise TV.
Onuachu has been invited in place of Nantes winger Moses Simon after his club refused to release him.
