Pinnick faces criminal trial on Tuesday – Obono-Obla
Barrister Okoi Obono-Obla, the Chairman of the Special Presidential Investigative Panel on Recovery of Public funds has disclosed that five Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) officials indicted in their concluded investigations will be charged to court on Tuesday, 8th of January 2019.
He also confirmed www.gongnews.net that the Panel has applied for a travel ban on the indicted NFF officials and it is now left for the Nigeria Immigration Service to get this enforced.
"We have concluded our investigation and the people (NFF officials) who has been accused will be charged to court accordingly.
Obono-Obla also spoke on travel ban: "We gave some names to Nigerian Immigration Service in accordance to Nigeria Executive Order No.6 of 2018 that said which that anybody who hold a public office and is under investigation should be placed under travel ban."
We can confirm with authority that the Panel had in a letter to the Nigeria Immigration Service dated 11th December 2018 listed 32 Nigerians to be placed on the travel ban. The list which had two sections had list of important personalities which had 25 persons and the second section had “NFF.”
In the NFF list the listed officials to be banned from travel include Amaju Melvin Pinnick, Barrister Seyi Akinwunmi, Mallam Shehu Dikko, Alhaji Ahmed Yusuf, Alizor Chuks, Mohammed Cheku and Dr Sanusi Mohammed.
It would be recalled that www.gongnews.net broke the story of the travel ban on Mr Amaju Pinnick which he and the NFF had worked so hard to deny including making Mr Shehu Garba, the President’s media aide to debunk. We have been vindicated with the latest development.
