Pinnick not CAF 1st Vice President - Investigation

By Niyi Busari

Upon the publication of our report on the travel ban which the

Presidential Investigative Panel on public property sought for approval from President Muhammadu Buhari which we published on Friday, which the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) described as ‘fake news’ and debunked, a senior member of the Confederation of African Football (CAF) from Cairo, the Egyptian capital called to assert that the Nigerian is not the 1st Vice President.

According to him, “I don’t want to have any business with transpires inside your nation but I have chosen now to let you know that Mr. Amaju Pinnick does not have any appointment document to show that he is officially appointed as CAF First Vice-President.

Neither was he officially inaugurated. Ask him.”
The top CAF official challenged the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) President to produce any document which shows he was officially appointed as CAF Vice President. He has neither been inaugurated nor handed official letter before he started parading himself as the 1st vice president of CAF.”

"I am telling you with authoritaty, if Amaju says he is CAF First Vice president, he should show the world his letter of appointment. In CAF, you get appointed officially by letter and not by election. If board members elected anyone as first, or second Vice president there must be confirmation through an official letter. Tell him to produce the letter.

However, the attention of the source of the information was drawn to Pinnick’s name on the CAF website as CAF’s First Vice President, he laughed with derision and asked: “is he officially confirmed by the Executive Committee of CAF?

He added that the CAF Executive Committee meeting they had last would ordinarily have confirmed him in the last meeting they held but nothing was said about it.

"Though, his name is on the CAF website as First Vice president, he would have been confirmed in our last meeting but he is already parading himself with some pompous air of arrogance. This made the CAF Executive members not to say anything about it," he concluded.

“He has not been officially inaugurated before he started parading himself as CAF First Vice-President. To us, that was jumping the gun. That is how we had all been watching him from a distance. It is in your country you people know him as such but in Cairo, he is not our First Vice President.”
