Pinnick Reveals CAF Decision On World Cup Playoffs Seeding By Niyi Busari The president of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), Amaju Pinnick, has revealed details of the meeting of the Confederation of African Football (CAF) Exco on Thursday. Pinnick, speaking with journalists in Abuja after meeting with the Minister of Sports Sunday Dare, doused the tension of Nigerians on whether or not Super Eagles may lose their fifth ranked position in Africa to Egypt. The Pharaoh of Egypt are currently playing in the FIFA Arab World Cup and many believed that there performance may affect their rankings and thereby displace Nigeria in FIFA Rankings. He said the FIFA Rankings for November would be used to determine the seeding for the CAF World Cup qualifying Draws in January. He said: “I also want to douse Nigerians' tension saying Egypt is playing in the Arab world cup and if they do well they are going to overtake us in the ranking. At the CAF executive-level what we have decided is the last ranking that was done in November will be used for the draw so Nigeria remains fixed to the 5th spot. Whatever Egypt did Nigeria will remain in the first pot." The 2022 World Cup play-off draw would be held on January 26. The first leg fixtures will take place at the lower-ranked team’s home. The higher teams that have qualified for the playoffs are Senegal, Morocco, Tunisia, Algeria, Nigeria. The lower-ranked teams are Egypt, Cameroon, Ghana, Mali, Congo DR.
