Players' Status Committee: Legal Advocacy Group drags NFF to Sport Minister

The Legal Advocacy for the Advancement of Football in Nigeria has dragged the Nigeria Football Federation, NFF, to the Minister of Youths and Sport, Sunday Dare on the constitution of the Players’ Status Committee and Arbitration Tribunal in accordance with the NFF Statue 2010.

This is sequel to the letter with reference number: IT/No119020, signed by the Head of Litigation, Abdulhaleem AMIN, Esq, of the group, sent and received by the NFF on 13/7/2020, urging the federation to constitute the Players’ Status Committee and an Arbitration Tribunal.

In addition, the group established that the NFF is doing a disservice to the advancement of football in the country and making efforts to ridicule the country “in the comity of great footballing nations” by its action of noncompliance and gave a one-month ultimatum to the country’s football federation.

Now that the one-month ultimatum has elapsed, the group has approached the Minister of Youths and Sports, Sunday Dare with a letter referenced IT/No119020 on September 10, 2020, urging his office to intervene by directing the NFF to immediately do the needful.

The letter signed by the Head of Litigation, Abdulhaleem AMIN, Esq, which has been received by the office of the Minister state that the failure of the NFF to adhere to the demands have made “the Players to resign to their fate as they now feel they can never get justice since the medium upon which they could channel their grievances does not exist".

The Minster has, therefore, been urged to exercise his power over the NFF as entailed in Sec.19 sub 1 & 2 part VII of the Nigeria Football Association act LFN 2004, directing them to constitute the Players’ Status Committee and Arbitration Tribunal as demanded by the article 53 and 68-69 of the NFF Statute, 2010.
