By Our Reporter
Professional Footballers Association of Nigeria (PFAN) has forwarded a formal complaint against the Nigeria Football Federation President, Amaju Pinnick to both world football governing body, FIFA, as well as the Sports Minister, Sunday Dare, accusing him of forming a rival players’ group for his own selfish reasons.
In the correspondence to FIFA, titled ‘Unethical Conduct Of Nigeria Football Federation President And FIFA Council Member: Petition Against Amaju Pinnick’, PFAN provided a background and went on to dub a newly formed players group as “Amaju Pinnick Footballers Union”.
The players union touched on the poor work environment its members are subjected to and accused Pinnick of a divide and rule approach after it took almost 15 years to merge the various players’ organisations under one roof – PFAN.
In the letter to Sports Minister Dare, PFAN said that the players union are often the victim leading up to every election year and the Minister must mediate in this crisis that threatens Nigeria Football.
It would be recalled that Pinnick in 2016 formed a rival players union headed by his personal assistant).
