Players Union Involves FBI, Interpol To Help Fight NFF Corruption War

Players Union has internationalised its fight against corruption in Nigeria football by taking the case to both the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) and Interpol.

In a statement signed by NANF statement Harrison Jalla, the union argued that the corruption in Nigeria football has an international dimension like FIFA and CAF grants.

It would be recalled that former sports minister Solomon Dalung in a petition to the EFCC since 2016 alleged that over $16m FIFA grants and royalties including several billions of Naira appropriated by the National Assembly was diverted and misappropriated by top officials.

Also several billions alleged by whistleblowers to have been diverted since 2014 in a series of petitions to the defunct SPIP under the Chairmanship of Obono Obla was taken over by the office of the AGF only to be stalled and the file purportedly missing.

It was also alleged that the Central Bank of Nigeria has concealed information concerning the NANF request under the freedom of information ACT on FIFA 2018 $10m World Cup prize money.

“We are more than determined not to leave the future of Nigerian youths in the hands of a monstrous gang,” Jalla vowed.

In the meantime, the Serious Fraud Office in London has acknowledged receipt of a complaint filed by NANF as regards an alleged dubious sale of the commercial rights of the NPFL.
